Weekly Update

It’s holiday season again, and this time it’s all about Passover and Israel’s national holidays - Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Memorial Day), Yom HaZikaron (Remembrance Day) and Yom HaAtzmaut (Independence Day). As the semester passes by, and we’re almost at the end, it is the perfect time to welcome the spring and celebrate our time together!

This is the first time that I am away from home at this time of the year, between Passover and Yom HaAtzmaut. In Israel, the people and the streets have a different feeling - festive, yet appreciative of the history. Being here, away from home, makes me think about my way of bringing those special feelings here to Milwaukee and how I try to shape this time to be meaningful to me and to our community. We started with hosting a “family style” Seder at Hillel, and as we continue through the semester we have programs planned for all of the Israeli Yamim, featuring a special MKE Israel Fest Week, in collaboration with different organizations and in various locations.

Milwaukee, and Hillel especially, has become my new home and family and I am excited to spend the spring with you and welcome a time of renewal and fresh energy.
